w3b4 is an ongoing project by Joan Heemskerk comprised of experiments conducted across multiple sites and infrastructures including CERN (Geneva, 2018), TU Delft (2020), the quantum internet (🌊🌊🌊-current-🌊🌊🌊) and Folia.app (online, 2023).

Addressing topics in the surrounds of quantum computing, infrastructure algorithms, and non-binary computation, the works included in the show question the validity of public vs. private ownership debates as found in the wake of recent NFT hypes, as well as the impending reality of our strongest cryptography – currently instrumental in blockchain network security – being broken by quantum computers.

w3b4 takes the Submarine Cable System – consisting of 545 fiber optic cables today, which deliver 95% of all international internet traffic – as one of its main aesthetic points of departure.

Curated and produced by Walter Langelaar.
